A new lens!
Ok, I’m starting to get to the point where I feel like I’m spending too much money on equipment. But then I think about amortising it over the expected life of this kind of gear, and I don’t feel as bad. Anyway, I picked up a wide-angle lens to cover the remaining gap in my focal lengths about two weeks ago and I’ve been testing it out a bit. I got a good exercise last Friday at the Sydney Motor Show at Darling Harbour. For photos, check out our gallery.
Man, I wouldn’t be allowed to take photos of chicks like that :).
I didn’t take too many photos at this motor show, cos it seems pretty much the same as last year.
What do you think about photos where the car is in a booth with the ultra-strong white light that reflects off the car like crazy (like the photo of the EVO9).
Is there a way to get rid of that? Or is it just something to live with?
You can’t exactly get rid of the glare except to reposition yourself so that the lighting ain’t as problematic. If you’re still getting too much glare, then expose for the glare and fix it up in post-processing.
On the topic of the motor show:
I’ve narrowed my next car to the following:
2006 Honda Civic Sport (paddle shifters a must)
Mazda 3 SP23 hatch
Citroen C4 coupe (glass roof a must)
Car to dream about, but won’t get because of total lack of practicality/price (maybe I’ll get it after getting married :P):
Mazda MX-5 coupe (2006 only, NC model)
Volkswagon Golf GTi
Mini Cooper S
