KYLC Accommodation Allocations

So I’m sitting here, trying to work out how to allocate accommodation to approx 350 week 1 KYLC people whilst keeping (in order of priority):

  1. KCC committee members happy.
  2. Delegates happy.
  3. My sanity.

Having looked at comments like “1st Pref: CMS with ensuite, 2nd Pref: CMS”, let me do everybody a big favour and tell you that the chance of that request being acknowledged is somewhat slim. KCC committee usually assign accommodation there. Your best chance is to be in the same church as someone that KCC has assigned to lodge at CMS.

This leads to my next point. People from the same church will be kept on the same site if possible. Hence, please don’t bother with comments like “Please keep me with other members of ” because it’s a given, and it just adds noise to the requests.

OK, enough ranting from me. Back to more fun with accommodation…

I must say in my previous experience, all the smaller church groups get allocated to CMS.

All those years ago, our group was small. That’s why I had the pleasure of staying at CMS for 2 of my 3 years at KYLC.

Yes, it’s generally easier for small church groups to get into CMS because the committee prefer to allocate large groups to large sites (e.g. Mountain Camp) so as to avoid cliques.

Of course, there can be exceptions (e.g. when someone from a large group gets allocated by committee to stay at CMS, then the rest of the church group scores as well).

Ooh, didn’t realise you were doing the accomodation allocations as well. Do you get to allocate yourself? :)

    Yes, I do. :)

Except that all of the logistics team has to stay at Speakers Lodge… so much for allocating myself to stay at CMS rooms with an en suite…
